Kids Yoga Module

$53

In this two hour online workshop you'll learn the basics of how to teach yoga to kids, complete with a class structure, some kid-friendly yoga tools and a lived experience of trying the kids yoga tools. You'll learn:

-how kids yoga is different than adult yoga (and how it's the same)

-how to structure a kids' yoga class

-how to approach asana, breathwork and pranayama

-some key tools for classroom management/ directing energy so your yoga class stays educational

-a breakdown of developmental stages (a class for 5 year olds is way different than a class for 12 year olds!)

-you'll experience a same kids yoga class so you get to experience how breathwork, meditation, yoga and relaxation can be communicated and experienced by a kid

For this workshop we'll focus on ages 4-12 (elementary school ages) but there will be time for questions about teens, parent/ child classes and even baby yoga.

-Sarah Herrington is the founder of OM Schooled, a kids yoga teacher training established in 2010, a yoga teacher and writer. Restorative Yoga Module

Restoratives & Koshas with Kate Stone: An invitation to peel back layers in more ways than one.

Restorative yoga is a gentle form of yoga that uses props such as blankets, blocks, and bolsters to support the body in relaxing poses. The aim of this practice is to promote deep relaxation and rejuvenation, reduce stress and tension, and optimize the nervous system. Poses are held for several minutes, allowing the body and mind to fully release and let go.

Join Kate Stone for a journey through marquee restorative poses, their benefits, and how to effectively, efficiently teach them. As the body softens, it preps and allows for the spiritual unpacking of Koshas, a fundamental part of the yogic path to enlightenment. We will conclude the day in exploration of these sheaths, how they impact our reality, and a truly mind-bending practice of letting go.

Katonah Yoga® Foundations Weekend Intensive

Katonah Yoga® Foundations Weekend Intensive

Sat, March 16th from 1 - 7pm
Sun, March 17th from 1 - 5:30pm
$250 before February 24th, $300 after

Katonah yoga is a syncretic practice named after the town in New York that founder Nevine Michaan lived in at the time of its inception. It is a blend that draws from Hatha yoga, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kundalini, and more- all through the lens of Daoism and Chinese five element theory. We draw from the sound and efficient patterns found in great nature to inform, reform, and transform body, breath and mind.

Muscles conform to the structuring of bones, organs find their optimal function when well housed by muscle, and glands find their optimal hum when well fed by the organs. It is in this same manner that we utilize sacred geometry to move from the gross to the subtle. By this theory- the practice follows the principle that poses are not found by feeling but by proper measure- like a magician with a spell book, each spell must follow the right recipe to yield the desired outcome. It is by this reason that we often utilize props to find the proper angles. Blocks become an extension of bones, straps function like tendons, and blankets like tissue.

The overarching goal of the practice is to become more powerful, more potentiated, and more archetypal by way of developing a toolkit for self exploration.

The immersion will go over the body as a house, an introduction to the Magic Square, as well as an introduction to body reading and the use of the seasons in five element theory as a reference tool when developing a practice. This weekend will be a fun, and explorational immersion that is intended to be just as useful to the beginner as to the veteran. Teachers and students alike are welcome to come and share in our play time. Each day will begin and end with a practice and we will play with lots of props, including chairs! Please feel encouraged to reach out with any inquiries, uncertainties, or general hellos.

Katonah Yoga® Foundations Weekend Intensive

to Apr 2

Katonah Yoga® Foundations Weekend Intensive

$250 in person $150 Online

Weekend intensive includes:
● asana practice (yoga poses)
● use of a folding chair for asana practice
● use of walls, blankets, blocks &straps to help create structure & support in asana practice
● techniques for breathing and meditation
● offering and receiving adjustments*
● the relationship between being a student and teaching
● an introduction and open discussion of Katonah Yoga® theory
We can practice to organize our bodies (in asana), observe and manipulate our breath (with
breathwork), and notice our thoughts (in meditation). All of the practice gives us information
about our choices, patterns and habits.
This means a “good” yoga practice can be less about how “good” a pose looks, and instead,
more about how we use the practice to look at ourselves.
A “good” yoga practice helps us make contact, first with ourselves, and then, with each other.
We can then learn to fit in to ourselves, and then learn how to fit with each other.
This makes the practice communal.
Katonah Yoga® incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, sacred geometry,
mythology and metaphor in a way that is practical and accessible. It is designed to help
actualize our individual and collective well-being.

10 HOUR KATONAH INTENSIVE: TECHNIQUES FOR SELF-CULTIVATION WITH BRIMA JAH & BOBBY RODRIGUEZ

SAT, OCT 22  - SUN, OCT 23RD

12:30-5:30PM EACH DAY

  • Investment - $250 early bird (before 9/23/22) | $300 (after 9/23/22)

  • Toni Morrison once said, “you are your best thing.” Carl Rogers believed that all people share the desire to become self-actualized, or to otherwise fulfill our highest potential. What the Chinese call “self-cultivation” refers to techniques we can use to realize that potential.

  • Self-cultivation is practical and invites us to use our imagination. It is work that we each do on our own, and yet we gain some insights only by making contact with one another. If we all have a mind, a body and breath (spirit), then we also have the capacity to cultivate ourselves without being diminished by our life circumstances.

  • There are many techniques for self-cultivation: reading self-help books, journaling, making art, going to therapy, or working with a life coach are only a few. In this 10-hour Katonah Yoga® Intensive, we will explore a few more techniques:

    -Asana (yoga poses)

-Theory that includes principles of Taoism & The Magic Square

    -Breath work

    -Giving and receiving adjustments

    -Home Practice & Meditation

    -Restorative and chair yoga
